What Causes Itchy Rashes On Chest, Back And Behind Ear?
My daughter has had a rash on her chest and now on her back and behind her ear. She had had the chest rash for at least 3 weeks. It is very itchy and bothers her a lot. Nothing has changed in her diet or use of shampoos or soaps or lotion. Using cortisone only briefly helps with the itch. I gave her benadryl last night and she is still very itchy today. What could be the cause?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itchy rashes on chest, back and behind ear . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query meningitis , chickenpox , contact dermatitis , eczema , dry skin , eczema and erythema nodosum . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses on rashes , avoid applying any cosmetic product except petroleum jelly , take over the counter anti histamine like benadryl and drink plenty of water . If condition doesn't get well the consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like blood test , allergy test and skin patch test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants along with corticosteroid ointment or antibiotics like clindamycin .
