Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itchy Rashes And Stomach Discomfort While Having Osteoarthritis?
I have severe osteoarthritus and take pain medicine such as hydrocodeine. When that is that enough I ve been taking Bayer extra strength aspirin. I ve noticed that when I do I usually start itching and sometimes have rashes and also stomach issues. I always take with food and water. I was not able to take NSAID because of hives. Is aspirin having the same effect?
As per my surgical experience, itchy rashes can be part of side effect of aspirin most likely and lesser possibility as extra articular manifestation of underlying inflammatory condition. Kindly stop further doses of aspirin for coming 3-4 days and observe the resolution of rashes and progress. Do report after 3 days or early as per your desire and need.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
