What Causes Itchy Bumps Around A Wound On The Calf?

I wrecked on my motorcycle 2 weeks ago and got a decent patch of road rash on the front of my calf. It was healing nicely under tegaderm with neosporin until 3 days ago. It started to itch unbearably and small, irritated bumps are appearing around the edges and inside of the wound. It’s very red and bruised looking but not weeping a lot or draining pus.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

From your explanation it loole like either infection or reaction to any of the medication.
Probability of infection is more.
So my suggestion is to consult an Emergency and get evaluated.
A course of antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin oral and cleaning of the wound with Betadine solution and a medicated dressing can be done for healing it faster.
Also avoid exposure to excessive moisture and maintain a good hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
