What Causes Itchy Brownish Rash Between Thighs?

Hi, i have a medium sized brown rash in between my thighs. It is very itchy & after i scratch & it becomes kind of painful after i do scratch. It also turns white & flacky afterwords. Ive only had it for about a month. I am 5 4 & 146lbs, so i assume its because of my weight. I searched some options online which suggested i go see a doctor but im not so comfortable with getting vaginal exams just yet. I was jut wondering what over the counter products i can buy to treat the rash.

HI,
I understand your concern.
The itchy ,brownish rash you have -
- On inner side of both thighs is mostly from rash due to sweating/ bulky thighs rubbing against each other while moving about. This can be taken care of by-
-avoiding sweating/friction by using under wears made of fabric Hogiary, covering half thighs. Removing pubic hairs & maintaining vaginal hygiene.
- taking frequent baths/using cool talcum powder mixed with anti fungal powder( Multifungin)
Reducing thigh size by regular leg exercise work outs/walk/cycling.
-Adopt healthy life style & try to reduce weight.
_ In case the rash is vaginal & with some white discharge- you need physical examination & medication by a Gynecologist.
Thanks.

Dermatologist Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern for itchy brownish rash between thighs.

The type of problem which you have described is most often seen in the condition of fungal infection at the thigh area.

In my patients with your kind of problem I suggest them to take two times bath or atleast wash the area for two times so that the infection can be prevented. I also suggest all my patients to maintain the best hygiene and to wear lose cotton clothes and change your undergarments two times daily.

I suggest my patients to apply an antifungal cream such as clotrimazole or ketoconazole for two times daily in a very thin layer so that it should not be visible to the naked eye. An antihistamine such as loratadine or levocetrizine can be taken to reduce the itching.

Your present weight is bit higher as per your height so kindly do efforts to reduce the same.

All the best.
