What Causes Itchy And Red Face While Using Duress Drops For Eyes?

My mom (78yrs old) had glaucoma surgery Sept 21st. She has been using duress drops and Motorola drops in her eye. Her face is extremely red and itchy.it feels hot too. It almost looks like a mask on her face. No difficulty breathing or swollen throat. Her face is also very dry and is becoming scaly in some places. Can these drops cause this reaction? What should we do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your mother seem to be related to an allergic reaction. I suggest using antihistamines daily. I also suggest using Calamine lotion for local application in the area of the face.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
