General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is understandable to be overwhelmed about a long term problem that does not seem to be improving

It would be best to see specialists at this stage if the problem has been ongoing eg a dermatologist (skin specialist) or an opthalmologist (eye specialist).
The increased thickness would be due to the persisting inflammation/irritation.

The use of eye drops such as pataday or patanol may help to reduce the irritation but you may also need antibiotic drops as well.

I hope this helps
