What Causes Itching In Penis And Pain In Testicles Post Intercourse?

Hi. I am a 53 year old male in a long term relationship. My partner gets occasional thrush and after a recent episode I developed an itchy penis then testicle pain/chills. I was prescribed antibiotics twice which helped reduce the pain but 2/3 days after stopping the antibiotics the pain/chills return. I had a similar problem about 5 years ago and the pain eventually went (but it took over a year). I have been tested for STIs on both occasions but these were, as expected, negative. Can you help?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pain and chills are suggestive of bacterial infection.
Although the tests for STIs have come out to be negative, I suggest you to get an urine examination as well as a semen analysis done.
The pain in testis could be due to infection in the reproductive tract which starts from epididymis, includes vas defers, seminiferous glands, prostate and penile urethra.
In case there is evidence of infection in the reproductive tract on semen analysis, appropriate antibiotics need to be taken.
Infections of reproductive tract can involve the urinary tract also thus requirement of urine analysis.
In addition, if thrush is present in your partner, it needs to be treated.
Avoid unprotected sex till the thrush in your partner, your pain and chills are treated.

Thanks and take care
