What Causes Itching And Burning Sensation During Urination After Intercourse?

About a month ago I had unprotected sex and got trich. I took my prescription as well as my partner... From what he told me. It cleared up and a week before my cycle we had unprotected sex again. I came on my cycle. But just the before I used Nair down there. I also switched to using tampons on the cycle for the first time. After my cycle ended I started experiencing itching, but not to bad so I didn t pay it too much mind. A couple days later I again had unprotected sex with the same partner and I experienced a little pain, which isn t normal. And after that I have been having extreme itching and burning and burning while peeing. It feels like I have trich again so I went to the ER and the said everything came back negative! So what could be wrong with me?! Help please!

Hello,

You are having itching and burning sensation after intercourse. You are having history of having trichomoniasis. Your symptoms may be indicative of bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection or recurring trichomoniasis which is a sexually transmitted disease, UTI, dry vagina (peri-menopausal phase), hormonal imbalance, etc. These symptoms of pain, burning sensation, itching can be a sign of a more serious medical condition.

You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, do not use perfumed body care lotions / soaps. Do not douche your vagina. Wear loose cotton clothes. Avoid sex or any sexual activity for a couple of days. Get clinically examined by an OBGYN. Get urinalysis (R/E and C/S) and STD tests done for both partners. Stay away from addictions if any. You will be treated accordingly. Take adequate water. Avoid stress.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
