What Causes Itching Along With Drainage From Penis?

I am married male. My wife & I rarely have sex (last time we had it in Jan 15). Last Sunday I had a small encounter with a guy for the first time when I was wasted. He gave me a fellatio for a few minutes and we just played around ( without any anal stuff). Since Wednesday I started seeing a small discharge coming from my penis tip and I had a itchy feeling which has reduced. Today was my annual checkup with my doc but I didn t mention the encounter as I was very embarrassed plus wasn t aware oral activity could cause harm . He prescribed doxycycline hyclate as he thought it was an unknown inflammation. He did ask me to get std tested after my antibiotic course. After researching online I found that oral activity does result in STDs such as chlamydia and Gonorrhea. I start my antibiotic course tomorrow and will be testing myself for STD soon after but wanted to know what are the chances of me getting STD by just getting fellatio from a person who had no knowledge of it. Plus should I go ahead with the course now and then do the STD or wait for the STD now that I can see the connection

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, chances of you getting STD is there. If oral sex is received from a person who is infected with chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis, HPV or HIV, an STD can be contacted. Make sure to use condoms, dental dams, internal condoms and the like as protection. You are advised to consult with the treating doctor and tell him about the episode so that if required you may be given treatment for pre exposure prophylaxis.

Your symptoms may be indicative of STI. PrEP is commonly given in cases of unwanted exposure to STD's or HIV. Get STD tests done first. Then continue with your prescribed medicines. Get treated at the earliest. You are suggested not to indulge into sex with multiple partners.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
