What Causes Itchiness In Scalp That Has Spread To Eyebrows And Eyelids With Bump On Forehead?

Hello Doc, It started with an minor itch in scalp (around 7 days ago), though I don't have any dandruff, slowly it turned to major, and 2 days later, I saw a bump on forehead. Bump was increasing and paining a lot, I thought I might go with "baking soda" so applied 2 times , and it turned red, and slowly it's going (though it still pains). However, the itch has spread to my eyebrows, and eyelids (in addition to scalp and forehead). It becomes sever in night, today I took an antihistamine tablet (cetrizine), but don't see any improvement. I follow a very healthy vegetarian diet, do not smoke, and also exercise regularly. what could be the reason, and what I can do to cure it?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

You seems to having Seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes along with scalp folliculitis.

If i was the treating doctor i would have asked you to take an oral antibiotic (penicillin group) for a week for scalp folliculitis/bump.

I would have also want you to use a Ketoconazole based shampoo twice or thrice weekly on the scalp.

A moderately potent steroid lotion (e.g fluticasone) can be used on the eyebrows once or twice daily and a mild steroid lotion (e.g desonide) on the eyelashes can be use for 2 weeks or so.

take care
regards
