Hi,

Omnacortil is a corticosteroid medication that is commonly used to treat Nephrotic Syndrome. It works by suppressing the immune system to reduce inflammation and prevent further damage to the kidneys.

Itching is a known side effect of Omnacortil and can occur due to various reasons. It may be due to an allergic reaction to the medication, a side effect of the medication itself, or a symptom of the underlying condition. Inform your daughter's doctor about this symptom, evaluate it, determine the relation to the medication or a cause and address the concern.

In addition to itching, other common side effects of Omnacortil may include weight gain, increased appetite, mood changes, difficulty sleeping, and increased susceptibility to infections. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by the doctor and not adjust the dosage or stop the medication without their guidance.

Your daughter's doctor may suggest various methods to alleviate the itching, such as prescribing antihistamines or topical creams. They may also adjust the dosage of the medication or switch to another medication if necessary. It is important to maintain close communication with the doctor and inform them of any new symptoms or concerns that arise.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
