What Causes Itchiness And Burning Sensation In The Shoulder?

I was laying on my couch and I sat up to my left shoulder burning and itching I looked at it and it looks like a giant hive followed with a spreading of a rash now 3-4hrs later the hive is gone but the skin to wear to hive was is hot and my entire left arm has a dull throbbing pain and feels like I have a dead arm?
