What Causes Irritation In The Pubic Area?

Hi! Recently my pubic area has been very irritated. It doesn’t hurt to go to the bathroom, but it’s pretty itchy and then eventually it burns but it’s tolerable. I looked to see, and it just looks like a rash. But I have a history of having eczema on my arms and face, so could I be that? I am sexually active with my boyfriend and we’ve been together for almost a year, and this hasn’t ever happened.

Hello,

As per your case history of irritation on pubic region, my treatment advice is:

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like Clotrimazole cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are Oral Fluconazole, Itraconazole and Terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
