What Causes Irritation And Soreness In The Eyes Along With Cold?

I have had the beginnings of a heavy cold today, and this evening my right eye was irritating and sore. I was alarmed to see that the inside of my eyelid is quite red, with a small ulcer and white spot close to it. This is a sudden thing, and certainly hasn t been there to my knowledge before. What should I do? Any help would be welcome

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The presence of pain in the eye is not common and when present is a sign that you will need to see a doctor soon to rule out important conditions of the eye. The most important is to rule out herpes infection as it can hurt the vision. Immune-related conditions causing ulcers in the eye should be ruled out as well.

So please see your doctor to rule out the above conditions of the eye and have proper treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
