What Causes Irregular Periods?

43 yrs old woman. From last April , my periods have become irregular, once in 2 and half months.Scan showed thick endometrial lining and hence doctor did D & c procedure and put me on Meprate tablet for a month.D & C report showed Estrogen breakthrough bleeding and rest normal. But again after i stopped tablet , its back same with irregualirty with Heavy flow upto 10 days. Doctor is suggesting again Meprate for 2 more months. One more doctor suggested Mirena . Plz let me know will this get alright .why does it happen like htis ?TIll April i had very regular cycle and no discomforts at all.

Hi I think you should get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of irregular periods. It can be a perimenopausal symptom. You can get a serum FSH level done to find if you are going to attain menopause. You can go for mirena. It is a good option. Hope it helps.
