What Causes Irregular Menstrual Periods In A Perimenopausal Woman?

Hi Doc, I am a 39 perimenopausal year old mother of two who took yaz bcp for years with success which actually shortened my periods from7-10 days to 2-3 days of light spotting, however recently my bleeding was much heavier and was lasting much longer and at times I was getiing it 2 to even 3 times a month. That happened for about 2-3 months. My doctor suggested mirena, which sounded great to me. Anything to stop menstruating & that can be used as BC sounded great. As of March 1 this year, when I had it inserted, I went from light bleeding to spotting to bleeding again, not to mention back aches and cramps, which I never had before. But no days of no bleeding :( , its almost like I am having my period every day. I am hoping this is only the beginning and that it will regulate. But when? When will it start getting better? I still havent gone for my 6 wk check up which is scheduled in 2 wks, which I am anxious about because I cant feel my strings, which I was never able to feel to begin with, so I'm a scared about that as well, though I haven't stopped taking my Yaz just in case, I figured it couldn't do any harm only double the protection, and it has always helped me with complexion as well, I didn't want to stop, and have no intentions on stopping. I Hope that is ok and I am not actually deterring the protection on both ends. So Doc, with all your patients, how long does it usually take to stop getting your periods, or even how long before you start seeeing major changes even if not completed stopped. I am sure everyone is different, but I dont know how long I am willing to keep this in, if this is what is going to be happening to me for a long time. Can you tell me if there were any women in the same situation with the constant daily bleeding and spotting and then in a few months (how many months) had no periods at all? And if there were any who didn't see any differences after 6 months or more and decided to remove it? How were the cycles then? Any changes? Better? Worse? I am thinking this bleeding process has a lot to do with my perimenopause too, and may have begun happening to me even with out inserting mirena,, being that all of the sudden i started getting irregular periods and all. Please advise, Thank you
