I was bleeding for about 6 weeks pp and got my first real period after 2 months. since, i have a period every 13 and 21 days. how can i fix this? does this mean i am not ovulating? i would like to try for baby #2 when my son is around 9-12 months.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Customer , This is Dr. S. Tomar from healthcaremagic.com's medical team and I ll be your medical advisor for this question. First of all thank you for sharing your concern with us and showing trust on us.
Hormonal imbalances occurs in first few months after childbirth which cause the periods to be irregular and its quite normal finding and rarely harmful , so Please don't be worried first of all. Ovulation starts as early as after 28 days to 2 months in non breast feeding women . Breastfeeding suppresses the ovulation upto 6 months and then ovulation normally begins .
Such irregularity becomes normal as the hormones gets stabilized , so don't be worried much ,I can understand that its quite annoying to have frequent periods but its not harmful and will become normal in coming months . As far as next pregnancy is concerned so there is no problem in that as proper ovulation begins after 6 month in breastfeeding and maximun 2 month in non breast feeding women .

This is my initial response and discussion is open until you have any query or need further clarification.
I wish you good health .
Thank you for your question and feel free to contact further for any question .
sincerely,
Dr. Shardendu Tomar
