What Causes Irregular Breathing Patterns Causing Difficulty To Sleep?

For the last 2 weeks, I sometimes wake up at night and cannot exhale through my nose (I can exhale through my mouth). I then have trouble going back to sleep because it keeps happening. I started a new medication about 3 weeks ago. What is going on in the back of my throat?

Hi.

It could be an allergic reaction producing mucus that blocks your airway, or some underlying condition causing this. I would recommend a chest xray and an elaborate blood profile to find the cause. But the next time this happens you can try and use oxymetazoline or xylometazoline nasal spray for clearing the blocked nostril.

Best wishes.
