What Causes Irregular And Heavy Periods?

My daughter is 16 and has been having irregular and heavy periods since age 13. She also has severe cramping before, during and after her periods. We have tried progesterone only birth control, depo shots, and regular birth control pills. She has myoclonic seizures, EDS hypermobility and Cardio Inhibitory syncope. We have been to two gynecologists that want to try an IUD. I am not convinced that this is the best option for her. Your thoughts?

Hi,

Your daughter needs to get investigated to find the cause of her menstrual problems.

It can be hormonal imbalance due to (ovarian problem-pcod, ovarian cyst/thyroid problem-hyperthyroidism) /it could be due to endometriosis.

Exact diagnosis would be by USG Elvis, hormone assessment/thyroid function test).

Specific treatment then is selected to remove basic cause & then it has to be adjusted with her other problems. Please consult a gynecologist.
