What Causes Involuntary Tremors In The Body?

I have had multiple surgeries in the last five years for stomach almonds including two hiatal hernia surgeries and one ventral hernia surgery along with several stretches of my esophagus . I don t think they are related to the symptoms that I am asking about but I ve also had a very very serious bone infection that caused me to be on an antibiotic intravenously for about three months twice today and then another six months of oral anabiotic. My problem is that my body involuntarily jerks every 3 to 5 minutes. This concerns me a great deal if it is the beginning of something that is a long slow slide downhill. I am not a hypochondriac, but I am very nervous about these involuntary body jerks. They could be anywhere in my body, or the whole body at once. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I think you may be suffering from bone tuberculosis or osteomyelitis that's why they advised long run of antibiotics.

Involuntary jerks may be due to side effects of antibiotics or drugs like antidepressants, Metoclopramide, Promethazine etc.

It may also due to parkinsonism or Wilson's disease or stroke or meningitis etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Please consult your neurophysician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
