What Causes Involuntary Muscle Twitching While On Gabapentin And Orphenadrine?

hi.. I have been having painless involuntary muscle twitching for quite some time now... honestly.. it started in one small spot right after I found out I had melanoma ( now cured, but scared the wits out of me) .. and now its all up and down my legs, in the bottoms of my feet, in my rear end, in my stomach, occasionally in my arms and face. My Md put me on gabapentin, which I had to stop due to it making me feel irritable, and today he prescribed me orphenadrine citrate to stop the twitching. it didn t do a thing.. my anxiety and fear are steadily getting higher that something is seriously wrong with me.. Are you sure this could all be just manifestations of anxiety itself? I have an appointment nearly a month away for nerve conduction test.. and even THAT scares me ( that they may say I have something really bad such as ALS).

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Having being treated and cured for melanoma will cause some amount of anxiety which is very common. You are doing very well in your capacity. To get over the anxiety, I recommend doing some form of deep breathing exercises. It is normal to be scared for future tests, but be positive and don't overthink.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
