What Causes Involuntary Muscle Contractions In The Legs?

I am having involuntary muscle contractions. It feels like it starts at the ball of my foot, makes my leg stiffen and then moves up and makes my arm and hand curl up for a few seconds and then goes away. Happens a few times a day... What could this be?
