What Causes Intermittent Sharp Pain In Wrists And Neck?

For a couple of days now I have been feeling tension and a periodical sharp pain in both of my wrists suddenly. Now the pain is also in the area where my arm artery is located in the center of my arm. These pains just suddenly appear then go away and then come back within seconds or minutes. But for a week now I have been having extremely bad head aches that last all day. They are extreme. Also I have been feeling tension and pain in my neck that stays all day long only on one side of my body my left side which seems to be effected the most by these pains. What do you think it is. I am worried. Is there something I can do to help the problem, such as take aspirin? I have taken aspirin/pain reliever s in the past for my head ache which doesn t relieve it at all. The only thing that has worked to help these head aches which I have been suffering from for several months now is sleep. This is on the side I sleep on the most. My bed is not that soft. Do you think that this is the only reason for these problems or do you think it is much worse? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Yes, position and quality of bed can effect but if it’s in both wrists. You need to be tested. Does this happens in the morning? Is your cushion is soft or lifted? It is because that can be a cause also. To rule out cervical pain, a few tests like HLA B 27, ESR, plain X-ray AP, lateral, or 7 views and MR can be very helpful in the diagnosis. Superficial heat can help, if it is cervical, then soft cervical collar, injection in cervical, or aspirin should be avoided. Tylenol can be taken once in a while.

Few yoga exercises are available specifically too and do pranayama too.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
