General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Dizziness is the condition of imbalance affecting the individuals normal day to day activities. Dizziness may be due to abnormality between hearing and visual stimulation. Vertigo is the term used for dizziness with hearing problems. It may due to peripheral inner problem or may be due to brain issue.

Vertigo is feel like everything spinning around you. It may be due calcium crystals deposition in semicircular canals called as Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, Meniere's disease of the inner ear which we cannot cure completely and acute peripheral vestibulopathy. Central vertigo may be due tumors in cerebellum, stroke, migraine, etc. Treatment depends on the causes from physical maneuver to vestibular blocking agents.

Other causes may be heart disease, postural hypotension, anemia, dehydration, etc. Acute hypoglycemia also cause dizziness. If you feel that the world around you is spinning, it is called as vertigo. If you feel imbalance, it is called as dizziness. Lightheadedness may also cause dizziness. It differs from other conditions as you feel that body is heavy and head is light. Consult your physician with appropriate history for further management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
