Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Intermittent Aphasia In A Person With Multiple Sclerosis?
My wife has multiple sclerosis and now and again her speech goes AS if she is having a stroke but her speech returns to normal after 10 to 15 minutes she never has pain or numbness her facial features don t change any ideas she has had multiple sclerosis for 30 years she is 52 years old & wheelchair bound
I can understand your concern. Aphasia as you are describing is a very rare finding in multiple sclerosis cases. Even though it is due to multiple sclerosis, there is no cure for it except making little changes in conversations styles with family members.
However, I would advise you not to take this problem as associated with multiple sclerosis and get an appointment with a neurologist for the examination and further investigations. If it is not associated with any other disorder, then only multiple sclerosis can be considered as a reason.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for trusting HCM with your concern. I wish your wife feels better soon!
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
