I finished my menstrual cycle about 3 to 4 days ago and this evening I whent to bathroom and when I wiped there was a bright red purple discharge..... I have had 4 kids by c section and I have had my tubes tied at the last one.... this is about 18 months ago... I was also diagnosed with PCOS about 10 years ago.... should I be worried?

Hello,

Spotting usually means that there is some fluctuation in hormones. It can also be due to other things, such as cervical polyps (usually benign).

Generally, it is not worrisome, particularly if you have a history of PCOS which goes with irregular cycles.

I don't know your age and that can be a factor, but usually, in women who are still having periods, an episode of spotting, unless it is heavy bleeding, isn't usually worrisome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
