What Causes Inter Menstrual Vaginal Spotting?

I am 31 years old and have had 2 kids. I have been on birth control pills for a long time with no real problems. However, I had my period normally this month and now 2 weeks later I am still spotting with some small blood clots. Should I be overly concerned?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Irregular bleeding can sometimes occur but two weeks is a relatively long time.

Though it may not be indicative of any significant abnormality, there are medications that your doctor can prescribe for you to help decrease the bleeding.

Irregular bleeding can be due to different possible causes. Any alteration in the hormone levels can lead to abnormal bleeding eg emotional stress or illness, other physical illness, side effect of medication, infection, benign growths, trauma.

It is possible it may be due to a benign cause but if it continues then it would be best to be seen

I hope this helps
