Welcome to HCM
This is Dr Amit.
Vaginal bleeding between periods is called as intermenstrual bleeding or spotting. As you have not given your complete menstrual and contaceptive history so i wont be able to pinpoint the etiology.
Possible causes can be
1.Hormonal imbalance
2.Intrauterine device : This type of birth control is a plastic device inserted into the uterus. It can cause abnormal bleeding.
3.Pregnancy complications: Complications during pregnancy can cause spotting.
4.Uterine fibroids or polyps : These are non cancerous growths that form in the uterus. They are not uncommon in women who have had children.
5.Infection

As per me, you should contact your doctor. The cause of the bleeding could be serious and should be determined. If you are pregnant and have vaginal bleeding, see your doctor right away
Diagnostic tests can help your doctor pin point the cause of the bleeding. Your doctor may draw blood to check hormone levels. You may need to have cultures taken or tissue removed (biopsy) from your cervix or the lining of the uterus for testing. Your doctor may also want to perform an ultrasound — an imaging technique that uses sound waves to create a picture of your reproductive organs. Hope this information will be useful to you. Feel free to ask if you have any other query
