Hi,

Noted your history of having pain in upper leg pain, diagnosed DVT and not on Coumadin at the moment.
Such severe pain in upper part of leg can be due to the following reasons:
DVT again as you have not been taking Coumadin.
Muscle spasm.
Infection in the affected area.
All these can be diagnosed by the following ways:
Consult your Doctor again for clinical examination so that a probable diagnosis can be made.
Assisted by ultrasound and color doppler.
Relevant tests of blood.
Once a proper diagnosis is made it is possible to have an appropriate management as per the cause found.
Till then take plenty of oral fluids to avoid dehydration.
You can get started with anti-platelet medication.
Give rest to the affected area.
Follow the advise of your Doctor.
You can surely ask for a reference to the Specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
