What Causes Insomnia And Anxiety?

I was on 10 mg of Prozac for over 25years. a month or 6 weeks ago my doctor took me off of the Prozac due to low sodium in my system. I did fine. A week and a half ago I experienced a death in the family that was very upsetting. So, I put myself back on Prozac Sept. 9th, 2016. Since then I have had anxiety and insomnia. So, two day ago I stopped taking the Prozac. I did get a couple of good nights of sleep. But tonight the insomnia has returned. Do you think after about 5 days the Prozac will be out of my system and I can return to normal . I have NEVER had problems with insomnia. And do you think the Prozac is the problem.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Improper usage of Prozac is the biggest problem as you are abruptly discontinuing it after prompt usage. It's better to consult a psychiatrist before that. However, now, for such symptoms, benzodiazepines like Alprazolam may be needed to overcome insomnia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
