What Causes Inflammation And Red Bumps On The Tongue?

Ok this is a little embarrassing. My tongue has a burning sensation and has red bumps on it. ( almost like a lie bump but covering my tongue and painful) I also have some larger bumps towards the back of my tongue. My throat is sore and its hard to swallow. The embarrassing part about it is.. I m curious how this came to be. The night before the symptoms started my husband and myself were intimate. I gave him oral. I noticed the skin toward the tip of his shaft had a rough skin feeling. I didn t think much of it at the time. The next morning I woke up with a sore tongue with bumps and white all over it. I brushed my teeth and tongue. The white went away mostly after scrubbing it with my toothbrush but then it was red and I think it hurt worse! Any idea what this might be and if it s from my events the night before? I m so nervous and also curious if husband is the cause of this. If he is... How he ended up with something.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that sore tongue along with red bumps and also a white coating over the tongue seems to be due to fungal /yeast infection of the tongue known as Oral Thrush and as you removed the white layer there seems to be underlying raw and inflamed surface that is painful..

Your husband might have fungal infection on his genital which you might have contracted while fellatio or oral sex..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like oral swab culture and also microscopic examination of scrapings from the tongue can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..

In case of thrush you can be advised oral antifungal medications like Fluconazole can be advised to you..
Clotrimazole lozenges and Nystatin mouthwash can also be given..
For relieving soreness gargle with Lignocaine mouthwash..
Do cold water rinses and suck ice..
You can also take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
