What Causes Inflammation And Itching In Nostril Post Colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy and EGD yesterday and have a terrible burning and itching sensation up high in my left nostril. I am sneezing profusely and nose is running and eye watering. I can t sleep or rest because of it. Any suggestion will be much appreciated.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Your problems look to be allergic rhinitis along with left sided nasal and sinus infection or so. I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- Use steroid nasal drops or spray
- Take oral decongestant nasal drops and oral tablets too
- Steam inhalation

If this does not help then consult an ENT surgeon for proper clinical evaluation, examination and nasal endoscopy. CT scan of sinuses may be needed as one sided nostril problems can have the disease in one of the sinuses that drain into the nose and causing the symptoms. Further management will be as per the findings.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
