What Causes Infection In The Gums After Tooth Extraction?

my son had some teeth removed 10 days ago in hospital . A few days later I took him to our own dentist and she prescribed antibiotics due to an infection and a few days later he was prescribed more antibiotics as his infection worsened. Now I can see two holes with pus and a sharp hard things protruding from the gum . What could this be?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

It looks like your son still has infection and there is a possibility that the hard things protruding from the gum can be left out root pieces that can be a potent cause of infection..
Pus is also a clear sign of infection..
Get an x ray of the extraction site done and if there are remaining root pieces then they can be removed under local anaesthesia followed by antibiotics and painkillers.
As of now make him do antiseptic mouthwash gargles and antiseptic mouthwash gargles..
But do not delay getting him checked to prevent spread of infection..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
