Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I awoke with one eye matted shut. I do not wear contacts. I used a warm washcloth to clean it. I have rinsed the eye several times with sterile tears. There continues to be matter coming from my eye, greenish, like mucous. Should I go to urgent care or wait.?
Maybe you are having conjunctivitis or dacryocystitis (that is infection of lacrimal sac). You can try using over-the-counter eye drops like Ciplox and antibiotic tablets like Amox. If it is still not getting better then consult an ophthalmologist at urgent care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Sanjay Kini
