What Causes Inexplicable Weeping And Crying After Taking Ativan?

Is the Ativan 1mg that I have been taking for 7 weeks now making me weepy and crying when it starts wearing off? I took only 1 tablet a day. For the last couple of weeks I have been breaking the tablet in half and only taking 0.5mg. I am also on Paxil 20mg twice a day going on 4 weeks now.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. The symptoms you are having could be occurring due to withdrawal of Ativan on reducing the doses. But since the dose you are taking is not very high so chances of withdrawal are less. The persistent weeping and crying is most likely occurring due to relapse of or poor control of depressive symptoms and this should be evaluated again. Please talk to your psychiatrist for re-evaluation.

For persistent depressive symptoms either the doses of Paxil (Paroxetine) should be increased or some other anti-depressant should be added. Visit your psychiatrist for prescription.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care.
