What Causes Increased Irritability While On Steroids And CellCept For Myasthenia Gravis?

Hi. My 19 year old granddaughter was put on steroids and Cellsept for the Fatal form of Myasthenia Gravis. She has become very irritable and mean. She is no longer responsible and has a give a care attitude. She has never been like this. She curses her mom out and has started to run with some low life people. People she would never have given the time of day & they treat her awful but she don t care. Can this be related to the medication? We are at our wits end trying to figure this out.

hi sir/mam,I can understand your pain.i really feel bad for your grand daughter.at this very young age,she is on such drugs which cause adverse effects that are really serious.but the symptoms you have mentioned are not related to either steroids or cellcept.cellcept can cause depression but very rare.i feel she is disturbed mentally due to her illness.in order to come out of it,she might be adopting such an attitude.more over, personal care and support may be required.my suggestion is that parents or close friends to sit with her in private and please talk to her regarding any problems with health, friends, academic performance, drug abuse or any partner related issues.best thing is to take her to a psychiatrist and have some sessions of counselling.i’m sure you will find change.as she is in her adolescence, even hormonal influence contributes to her behaviour.but please be patient and deal with affection, love and support.she has a great future.just build up confidence in her that she can overcome this with courage.of course it may not be that easy but with the help of a psychiatrist, you will be able to accomplish it.please do report her behaviour to the physician who treats myasthenia Gravis so that he can alter the drug dose or change the medication.hope my clarification helps you.any further doubts are always welcome.i wish your grand daughter recovers soon and your distress ends.thank you.take care.bye.
