What Causes Increase In The Blood Sugar After Taking Metformin 850 Mg?

I just took my blood sugar and it is 593. I have no symptoms of hypoglycemia. I am taking metformin 850 mg twice a day. I have been on it for about 3 months. Why has my sugar jumped so high? It was 126 at lunch. I have not eaten anything new but homemade sub sandwiches with whole wheat bread.

THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH YOUR GLOCUMETER
USUALY IT WILL NOT HAPPEN
I SUGGEST PLEASE GET A GLUCOSE TOLERANCE TEST DONE ITS AN OLD TEST PROCEDURE WHERE IN BLOOD AND URINE SUGAR IS TESTED HALF HOURLY AFTER GIVING 75 GMS OF GLUCOSE ORALLY
NOT MUCH IN FAVOUR NOW A DAYS BECAUSE NEWER TESTS ARE AVAILABLE HOWEVER IT GIVES VERY GOOD INFORMATION AS TO HOW IS YOUR SUGAR ABSORPTION TAKING PLACE OVER A PERIOD OF TWO HOURS.

FOLLOWING WHICH DOSE ADJUSTMENT OF METFORMIN OR IF NEED BE AN ADDITIONAL ANTI DIABETIC CAN BE GIVEN TO MAINTAIN SMOOTH SUGAR CONTROL
