What Causes Imbalance In The Legs While Standing?

Hello I am 63 year male and in june 2016 I started being unsteady and by july I cound not stand with out support. my b12 level was 110 and I started injections. B12 level is now normal but there is no real change I the unsteadiness however I can walk and sit normally. Dr said Orothostatic tremor and started me on clonazepam 1mg daily but has increased dose to 3mg daily. I continue to be unsteady standing and am getting less able to walk normally. Isn t there some testing the dr should be doing? I have researched orthostatic tremor and have some of the symptoms but I think there is something else wrong.

Hello,

Like most times in ageing, this is some of the common complains of not able to stand, unsteadiness, weakness etc. Medicines are symptomatic and will be helpful to compensate for the required stuff. But exercise plays a crucial role in helping with orthostatic tremor. I will advise consulting a close by a physiotherapist who can help with exercises like lower limb strengthening exercises which will help to resign the physical functions.

Research in geriatrics have been conducted and the use of exercise has helped them to a greater extent.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
