Long term acidity problems or gastritis can occur due Helicobacter pylori infection. It is a bacteria which can grow in the acidic environment of gastric area and cause inflammation, ulcers. This bacterial infection can be controlled by multi-drug therapy containing a combination of antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors. Urea breath test and antibodies in blood can help in diagnosing the condition. Gastric endoscopy may also be required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
