What Causes Hoarseness In Voice While Suffering From Acid Reflux?

I was diagnosed to have acid reflux. My ent doctor told me when he checked on my throat..the acid accumulate my throat already. I started on omeprazole for 2 mos but cant avoid foods that may trigger the acid. My voice becomes harsh. Would like to know if it is related to my acid reflux or simply because i have a tiny cyst found in my throat?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to inflammation of your vocal cord caused by reflux. As a first line management, you can take antacids like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole for symptomatic relief. Avoid spicy food.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gynaecologist and plan for an endoscopy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
