Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my 14 month old daughter who has had a husky voice lasting approx 3 weeks each episode. This has happened on about 3 separate occasions. Her voice is now ok. She has been diagnosed with a peanut allergy and not sure if she has other allergies. Reflux has been suggested. How do I know for sure what s causing the husky voice ? Would you ever recommend a scope to look at the oesophagus in a 14 month old? If it s reflux and not treated what are the long term and short term concequences of untreated reflux or Eosinophilic oesophagi tis ?
The hoarseness of voice can be due to reflux or Larynx problem. If acid reflux not treated than on long term it can lead to reflux esophagitis and on long term it is having small risk of metaplasia and subsequent adenocarcinoma.
But it is long term acid reflux complication. I suggest you consult her to otorhinolaryngologist for detailed evaluation and if needed doctor will perform indirect laryngoscopy to visualize Larynx.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
