What Causes Hip Clicks ?

hello, my 10 year old daughter has a hip that clicks. she had this clicking when she was a toddler and the hospital said she will grow out of it as they did all the xrays and found nothing wrong. its like the ball joint comes in and out in split secounds. THIS DID STOP FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND NOW IT HAS COME BACK. The GP also said there is now some tention in that leg.

hi,

thanks for your question. most joint clicks if non painful are innocent, this included clicks in infants and children's hips.

if your daughter has tightness or a contracture in her hip however this is a sign of a potentially serious problem and she should be seen and assessed by a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon and have her hips Xrayed.

I hope this answers your question.

best wishes
