Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello,doctor..my mother is 36 years old..recently she had a blood test..her blood ESR is 97 mm in 1st hour(Westergren)!what is the reason of this high ESR?what can cause this?what is the consequence of this?what should we do now?please reply immediately..
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of high levels of ESR which could be due to chronic inflammation in body. It indicates level of infection in body, once infection will be subsided it will come back to normal. Certain pathological conditions such as anemia, polycythemia, tuberculosis and autoimmune disease could be the cause for raised this. In your case it seems to be due to iron deficiency anemia. I would suggest you to take diet rich in iron. Get blood tests redone after every one month. Visit general physician once and get reports examined. Take carrot juice, spinach. Drink plenty of water.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
