Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes High Fever And Severe Fatigue In A Child?
My 4 year old grandson has been suffering from chronic fevers since he was 2 years of age. The fevers range from 102 up to 105plus. There really are no other symptoms except for fatigue. The fevers will last 7 to 10 days on average. He gets anywhere from 1 day to 5 days reprieve from them. So you can see they are very frequent in nature and have been going on for a couple of years. Everytime he goes into the doctors office you can count on him being sick within 24-48 hours. I have been pleading with my daughter in law to get a blood work up with an immunologist.
As per your history, it may be a viral fever. Kindly watch for other symptoms like cold, cough, sore throat and difficulty in swallowing. Till then you can give him syp. Paracetamol as per his weight after pediatrician consultation. Keep him hydrated. Continue cold sponging. Give proper rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale,
