Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes High Blood Pressure, Arm Pain With Bruising, Aches And Heaviness?
I had my blood pressure taken on Friday which was high 142/100. I am very stressed at the moment. That night my arm below the elbow hurt and has bruised badly and Saturday and today Sunday my arm hurts but not where the bruise is. It aches all over and feels heavy. Is this Angina or result of the bp test
Regarding your concern, I would like to explain that the bruise in your arm is not related to any cardiac disorder (including angina or blood pressure).
I recommend you to consult with a dermatologist for the bruise. It may be a Herpes zoster infection. Do you see small vesicles in the skin of your arm? I would also advise you to perform some test like: a routine blood test, kidney and liver function tests, resting ECG.
You should closely monitor your blood pressure and consult with the cardiologist if these values persist most of the time to start on an antihypertensive drug.
A consult with a neurologist may be needed for piched nerve. Herpes zoster infection can also cause nerve pain.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Iliri
