What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding During Pregnancy?

Hi Dr, Today is my wife s 7th week and 1day She faced spotting from start of 6th week and she was advised to take HCG and today she started getting bleeding heavily. She was so scared now. She went to hospital and they have put sustain injection. We are very scared as what will be the next step. Please could you advice? We got married on June 12th 2013 and she underwent surgery for ectopic pregnancy after 3 rd month of marriage (Aug 2013). We have waited for 1 year and now we have planned for a baby. We are very much scared.

Thanks for posting your query.

Very sorry to know about this . Most common cause is a Low Lying Placenta. Placenta is a structure that connects the growing embryo to the uterus . Normally it will be situated in the upper portion of the Uterus but in some ladies the position of the placenta will be low which can lead to detachment of placenta from uterus causing excessive bleeding .

Good that you are already in the hospital . Your doctors will first examined your wife and may do an Ultrasound scan which will let us know the cause.
