Hello, My question is what would cause heaviness in my chest. I have been taking care of my grandson who had the flu. He has a stuffy nose and cough. However he did have a temp of 100.4 - 104 through out the past couple of days. I now have stuffy nose and noticed a heaviness today on my chest. My concern is the heaviness in my chest. Normally I don t feel this with a stuffy nose. I just took sudafed to see if the pressure on my chest is because I can breath well through my nose.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for query. I understand your concern. Thinking of possibility that you had contacted flu ... the heaviness of chest can be either due to bronchitis or inflammation of muscles of heart .(Myocarditis) I would advise to consult a physician/cardiologist to get specific treatment of the cause.. the earliest. Thanks.
