Hello Doctor, Good morning ma am. My mother is 53 yrs old and she is in her menopause phase, is dealing with an abnormal blood flow and cramps for past two days. Her period cycle is regular, but with a heavy flow. She had a dose of Trapic MP last night, But the dose didn t help her with cramps or heavy flow. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, I understand your concern and wish to clear your doubts.

Firstly, when a women approaching menopuase its common to have excess bleeding although not all women experience it. This symptom is usually accompanied by irregular periods. It is important to remember that prolonged bleeding should be checked by your doctor. Bleeding for longer than 1 week per month is not healthy.

Cramps are also common during heavy flow. Trapic MF tablet may help to control bleeding, but should not be taken over the counter. I advice you to take your mother to local gynaecologist for proper evaluation. She/he might suggest Hormone replacement therapy or surgery if needed. Meanwhile ask her drink lots of fluids and consume food with full of nutrients.
