What Causes Heavy Bleeding After A Hemorrhoidectomy?

I had hemorrhoidectomy Tuesday and been okay with very little bleeding. Today I started bleeding pretty badly and there were dark blood clots coming out. The bleeding stopped and I ve been passing blood clots for the last 5 hours. It feels like I have to move my bowels but it s only the clots. I m feeling great otherwise. Anything I can or should do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Yes, you definitely should consult your surgeon. The bleeding can be from ruptured hemorrhoid or from something that is above it (including diverticles or tumor).
That is why, rectoscopy (to see possible hemorrhoids bleeding) and colonoscopy should be done. Please do not wait with it.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
