Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On rare and very random occasions my whole tongue feels large and heavy even though there is no swelling or difference in appearance. This is usually coupled with my hands also feeling large and heavy. What causes this? And is this an indication of other issues?
I can understand your concern. Allergic reaction to some allergen may sometimes cause the feelings you have described.
I would advise you to start with antihistamine such as Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for about 5 days. If the heaviness reduces or disappears, then it is allergic reaction only and an allergy test of blood will evaluate what substance you are allergic to.
However, if you do not feel better in 2 days, you should see a physician for clinical examination and further investigations regarding the diagnosis and management of the issue.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
